Dear Parents and Guardians,
The end of the year is fast approaching. Here is a run-down on what is
coming up to help you and your child make it through June 5th in
style.
Student
Led Conferences are currently taking place for all 7th and 8th
grade students. If you have not heard from your child’s advisor, please contact
him or her to set up your conference. All students must attend a conference.
The 3rd and final round of Hawaii State Assessments (HSA)
assessments will take place between May 6 and May 16. Any student who has not
passed an HSA will have their final chance to do so during that time period. 7th
grade students test in reading and math. 8th grade students test in
reading, math, and science.
Student Exhibition
will take place during the week of May 20th. Exhibitions are
mandatory and an important event for all students. It is a chance for them to
practice their public speaking skills, teaching skills, and show you what they
have been working on all semester. Please adjust your schedules so both you
and your child are able to attend his or her assigned Exhibition Night
May 21 – 6th grade Exhibition, 5 pm
to 6:30 pm
May 22 – 7th/8th grade
Exhibition for Kilauea, Mauna Loa, and Kohala classes, 6 pm – 8 pm
May 23 – 7th/8th grade

The 8th
grade celebration will take place on May 31st. A banquet will be
held for 8th graders and their immediate family members at 6 pm in
the high school auditorium. A school dance for all 6th – 8th
graders will follow the banquet from 7:30 pm to 9 pm. Please be sure to pick
your child up at 9 pm following the dance.
The grade
books close on May 31st. Students must have all of their work
turned in by 5 pm. No exceptions. Please remember students are expected to
achieve a 70% or better in all of their classes to be eligible for promotion to
the next grade level.
The last
day of school is June 5th. Attendance is required for all
students through this date.
The 2013-2014 school year begins on July 29th
for all Kihei Charter brick and mortar students.
Thank you for your continued support as we approach the end of this
school year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact
